Join the Quest and Thrive Wim Hof workshop at the MOYA Festival. Fully certified instructor John McKeown of Loving Oxygen will deliver the three-hour workshop in Ballybunion.
Learn more about the benefits of the Wim Hof method, what to wear, what to bring and how to prepare here.
The workshop will begin with an introduction to the Wim Hof Method, including the theory and science behind it. This is followed by discussion and practice of the breathing method. You will see and feel the effects and benefits during the workshop. The instructor will explain how to incorporate the breathwork tools into your daily life so that you can continue benefiting from the practice.
After the breathwork session, we move onto learning about the theory and benefits of cold exposure, culminating with an (optional) ice bath. You will be guided through the whole process by the instructor, who will ensure your breathe calmly and correctly through the experience. Before and after the ice bath, we will do easy exercises to keep the body warm.
The instructor recommends building up exposure to cold before attending the workshop by finishing your morning shower under cold water, first for a few seconds and then building up the time.
After the ice baths, you change into your dry clothes and we will have time for reflection and Q&A while enjoying hot drinks and delicious, health snacks.
The workshop is suitable for everyone but it does require a basic level of health. As a precaution, participation is not advised for those with epilepsy or why may be pregnant. Anyone with a serious health condition, including cardiovascular, should consult with their medical health professional before beginning the Wim Hof Method.
- Start finishing your morning shower under cold water, building up the time each day.
- Eat very lightly, if at all, before the workshop.
- Wear comfortable, stretchy clothes (bring extra layers).
- Bring a yoga/pilates mat, towel, flip flops, swimwear for the ice bath, dry robe if you have one, light blanket.
- Water bottle.
