Guided sunset hike to Cnoc an Óir

Event Details

Enjoy a group hike to the summit of Cnoc an Óir, north Kerry’s highest summit, with an elevation of 267m (876ft). We will set off at 7pm from the SuperValu car park in the centre of Ballybunion town. The three-hour return hike is all on-road as it winds its way through the farming lands of the area.

We will arrive at the summit before 9pm in time for May Eve Bealtaine sunset. At the mountain top we will have panoramic views of the Shannon Estuary, the north Kerry plains, and the Atlantic Ocean stretching all the way to Co Clare and on to Co Galway.

We will enjoy healthy treats and refreshments while listening to our experienced local guide tell us the fascinating stories of this hill of many names (Cnoc an Óir, Cnoc an Áir, Cnoc an Fhomháir, Knockanore).
